Here's a little spotlight on them.
My Father was born in Payette, Idaho and grew up in Boise/Eagle, Idaho. He grew up with 4 brothers and 3 sisters in his family.
At the age of 16, he was baptized into the church, along with some of his brothers and sisters. He served a mission in Peru at age 19. Learning Spanish on his mission influenced him to further his study of it at BYU where he received both a bachelor's and master's degree. He taught Jr. High - High School Spanish until he retired in 2004. He loves huckleberry pie, prime rib, and reading. My Dad really knows how to budget, is very organized, and is a great teacher. He is very hardworking, faithful, with such a strong testimony and an amazing knowledge of the gospel!
My Mother was born in Soda Springs, Idaho and raised in Montpelier, Idaho. She has 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
She seved a mission to Madrid, Spain and graduated from BYU with a bachelor's in Child Development. She loves yogurt, writing, reading, and holistic medicine/health. She always has an interesting story to tell. She is the epitome of patience! She is hardworking, loving, caring and unselfish, and always serving those around her.
My parents met at BYU (how often do you hear that?) However, in this case, my Dad was the teacher, and my mom was his student. It wasn't until after the semester was over that they begin corresponding (mostly via letters). They were married towards the end of that summer on this day, August 20th, in the year 1974.
They are the proud parents of 15 children and soon-to-be 33 grandchildren.
In May of this year, they received their mission call to serve in the South America Northwest Area Mission. They currently live in Lima, Peru! They arrived two days ago after being in the MTC for 5 days. They are both excited for the work they will be doing for the next 18 months.
HAPPY 38th ANNIVERSARY Mom and Dad!
What a beautiful story! You have a gorgeous family and now I know it's because of the good lookin' parents :) Peru is lucky to have them!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed learning more about your parents. Are you doing a blog for them? I'd love to hear about their mission experiences!
